If You Are Worried

Abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) or neglect can have a damaging effect on a child’s physical and mental health, educational attainment and emotional wellbeing.

Some changes in a child’s behaviour may not necessarily indicate that a child is suffering abuse or neglect. In some cases those changes may be symptoms of a hidden disability, undiagnosed medical condition or a change in medication.

If you become concerned about:

  • Comments made by a child
  • Marks or bruising on a child
  • Changes in a child’s behaviour
  • Changes in a child’s appearance

Please report these concerns to one of our Safeguarding Leads via dsl@miltoncross-tkat.org.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

What Should I Do When I Have A Concern?

  • Record the words used by the child and how the child appeared to you - be specific.
  • Use their language (don’t censor their words).
  • Do not ask them to write a statement.
  • Do not destroy any notes, such as anything a child has written, in case they are required by other agencies/Court.

County Lines

“County Lines” is a form of criminal exploitation. It is when criminals befriend children, either online or offline, and then manipulate them into drug dealing.
