Safeguarding Curriculum
Safeguarding and the promotion of British Values is central to the work at Miltoncross Academy. We plan to constantly encourage students to think deeply about safeguarding matters, including their own personal physical and mental wellbeing.
Priority on identifying opportunities in the structured and unstructured curriculum for students to learn about safeguarding is core to our school.
Our broad curriculum and school ethos give students the opportunity to experience the world in all its diversity, to acquire the necessary resilience, knowledge, understanding and skills that significantly impact on personal development, behaviour, welfare and safety, equipping every member of our school community with the tools required for personal safeguarding.
As a part of your child’s education at Miltoncross Academy, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) education programme. RSHE education is the curriculum subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.
Anti-Bullying
At Miltoncross Academy, we take our responsibility to support all students to feel safe, secure and happy extremely seriously.
We want students to flourish both academically and socially. We aim to foster a healthy and safe community where individuals take responsibility for themselves and show respect for others, emphasising the importance of positive relationships amongst all members of the school community.
Everyone has a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment free from harassment or discrimination. We work hard to foster good relationships within the school and want all pupils to be free from the fear of being bullied.
It is bullying if someone is being intentionally unkind 'several times on purpose'. This will not be tolerated at our school and every report will be investigated fully.
If you are concerned that you, a friend or classmate is being bullied you must report it to the pastoral team.
Online Safety
Online Safety has become an ever present topic for schools now that we are all more connected by technology than ever before.
It is imperative that all members of our school community understand how to properly protect themselves online.
Safer Schools App
Here at Miltoncross, we encourage parents, students and staff to use the Safer Schools app for online resources on staying safe using the Internet.
